Common Questions
Are cannabis consumption lounges legal in Alaska?
Yes! Alaska was the first state to implement statewide consumption lounge regulations in 2018. Licensed retail dispensaries can apply for an onsite consumption endorsement to add a lounge to their operation.
Can I bring my own cannabis to an Alaska lounge?
No. You must purchase all cannabis on-site at the attached dispensary. No outside products are allowed, including tobacco.
How much can I consume at an Alaska lounge?
The daily limit is 1 gram of flower OR 25mg THC in edibles per person. Small vape cartridges (up to 0.3g concentrate) may also be available. This limit applies across all visits in a day.
Are there consumption lounges in Anchorage?
Not yet as of early 2026. Anchorage has stricter zoning and clean air regulations that have made it difficult for lounges to open. The operating lounges are in Fairbanks, Ketchikan, and Palmer.
Can tourists use Alaska cannabis lounges?
Yes! Anyone 21+ with valid ID can enter. This is a major draw for cruise ship passengers and tourists who have no private place to consume. Out-of-state and international IDs are accepted.
Can I take leftover cannabis home from the lounge?
No. All products purchased for on-site consumption must be consumed on-site. You cannot take unconsumed product home — it must remain on the premises.
Is there food and drinks at Alaska lounges?
Some lounges like Good Titrations have cafés serving non-alcoholic beverages and food. Alcohol is never permitted at cannabis lounges.
What's the fine for smoking cannabis in public in Alaska?
$100. This is why lounges are valuable — they provide a legal alternative to public consumption, especially for tourists without private residences.
