Pueblo built its economy on steel - CF&I's mill once employed thousands along the Arkansas River - and when that industry declined, cannabis cultivation moved into the empty warehouses. Retail clusters around a few areas: Union Avenue's historic district near the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk (HARP), the Northside near CSU-Pueblo, and a stretch of Highway 50 connecting to Pueblo West. A Pueblo dispensary along Union Avenue or the Highway 50 corridor is the kind of address a local searching by area name expects to find, especially with fewer total storefronts to compete for that search than in bigger Front Range cities.

Colorado voters passed Amendment 64 in November 2012, and the first legal recreational sales in the country happened here on January 1, 2014, alongside Washington State. Delivery remains the exception, not the rule. State law lets each city decide for itself, and most of Colorado hasn't opted in - as of September 2026 the state lists just ten retail delivery permits, held in Denver, Aurora, Broomfield and Westminster, while Colorado Springs bans delivery outright. Colorado's cannabis brands are largely homegrown and have operated since the market's early years. Wana Brands, founded in Boulder, is the top-selling edibles brand in North America and stocks nearly every Colorado dispensary shelf; Incredibles is the other long-running Denver-based edibles name most shoppers recognize. On the flower and concentrate side, 710 Labs and Green Dot Labs are the two names Colorado's craft-cannabis scene built its reputation on, both known for small-batch, pesticide-free growing and premium live rosin. Veritas Fine Cannabis has one of the state's most consistent craft-flower reputations. For vapes, beverages, and topicals, ask the counter staff which brand posts current lab results (a Certificate of Analysis) for the specific batch on the shelf - Colorado requires testing, but potency and freshness still vary store to store.

The 2025-2026 story in Colorado is Colorado Springs finally joining the recreational market after more than a decade of local prohibition, instantly adding the state's second-largest city and its existing medical dispensary base to the adult-use map. Delivery adoption is spreading slowly rather than statewide - watch for more Front Range suburbs following Denver and Aurora's lead rather than a single new state law. Consumption lounges keep expanding past Denver's early adopters as more cities issue hospitality licenses, giving tourists a legal place to use product that still can't be smoked in most hotel rooms or on public streets.
