Greenwich is Connecticut's wealthiest town, home to a concentration of hedge fund offices along Greenwich Avenue and some of the most expensive real estate in the Northeast. Sitting directly on the New York border, the town of roughly 63,000 residents draws comparisons to nearby Westchester County as much as to the rest of Connecticut.

Local zoning in Greenwich has not cleared a retail cannabis storefront as of September 2026, which leaves Fine Fettle's Stamford store, a short drive east, as residents' closest licensed option. That gap places Greenwich alongside a handful of other affluent Connecticut towns where local land-use politics have moved slower than the state's licensing framework.

The most direct route for Greenwich residents runs east on I-95 or the Post Road toward Stamford's downtown district, typically under fifteen minutes from most Greenwich neighborhoods. A dispensary visible for a Greenwich-area search reaches one of the state's highest-income towns without needing to clear Greenwich's own zoning process.

Greenwich Point Park's beach and trails remain open to residents year-round, a rare amenity for a town this affluent, while the Bruce Museum downtown draws visitors for its art and science exhibits. Greenwich Academy and Brunswick School add to a private-school scene that shapes much of the town's social calendar.

Connecticut's adult-use law traces back to Public Act 21-1, signed in June 2021, which made the state the 19th to legalize cannabis for adults 21 and older. Retail sales didn't start until January 10, 2023, when the first nine hybrid dispensaries — stores already licensed to serve medical patients — opened to the general public. Growth since has been steady rather than explosive, shaped heavily by the state's social equity licensing requirements.

By September 2026, Connecticut counts 75 licensed cannabis retail locations, split between adult-use-only stores and hybrid locations that also serve the medical program established in 2012. Fine Fettle operates hybrid medical/recreational stores in Stamford, Newington, West Hartford and Willimantic, plus equity-joint-venture locations in several other towns. Higher Collective built a social-equity-focused chain anchored in Bridgeport with additional locations around the state.
