Game days at Memorial Stadium and the State Farm Center noticeably spike dispensary foot traffic, with lines forming well before kickoff or tip-off on football and basketball Saturdays.

Dispensaries cluster along Neil Street and near Campustown itself, positioned to catch both the student walk-in traffic and the broader Champaign County customer base that has no closer option in this part of central Illinois. Champaign's city council has never voted in a cannabis surcharge on top of the state rate, keeping totals under Chicago's - a gap that matters most to a younger, more budget-conscious crowd than the state's wealthier suburbs.

Illinois became the 11th state to legalize recreational cannabis when Gov. J.B.
