Slidell sits on Lake Pontchartrain's north shore, connected to New Orleans by the twin spans of I-10 and, farther west, the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, a geography that has made St. Tammany Parish a distinct culture from the city across the water - suburban, politically different, and proudly separate despite sharing a metro area. That Northshore identity shapes a patient base pharmacists describe as far more likely to arrive from a subdivision driveway than an urban block.

Willow Pharmacy, Inc. holds the region's base permit in Covington, the St. Tammany Parish seat about 30 miles west, but Slidell itself has its own satellite location at 796 East I-10 Service Road, sparing most eastern St. Tammany patients the full drive to Covington. A second Willow Pharmacy satellite serves Hammond, about 25 miles northwest in Tangipahoa Parish, rounding out coverage across the wider Northshore and Florida Parishes region.

The East I-10 Service Road satellite sits along Slidell's main commercial corridor, a stretch shared with retail centers and restaurants serving both local residents and I-10 through-traffic. None of this touches the possession limit, which remains 71 grams of flower per patient per 14-day window, or the requirement that every purchase still starts with a physician's recommendation.

Running alongside the medical program is a separate, tighter hemp-derived THC track. Act 752 of 2024 caps hemp edibles at 5 mg of THC per serving, bans every inhalable hemp product outright, and restricts sales to buyers 21 and older at permitted retailers - never gas stations. A medical card is still the only legal way to buy real-potency flower in Louisiana.

Ask any of them which manufacturer supplied a given batch and for that batch's lab results before buying.

The headline 2025-2026 story is regulatory, not retail: Act 693 finished moving retailer oversight from the Board of Pharmacy to LDH on January 1, 2025, the March 2025 emergency rule renamed dispensaries to retailers, and a January 2026 final rule locked the framework in. Meanwhile the adult-use pilot bill (HB 627) died without a committee vote when the session closed in June 2025, so the medical-only structure holds through the rest of 2026. On the hemp side, Act 752's inhalable ban and 5 mg serving caps have visibly thinned gas-station and convenience-store shelves since ATC enforcement began in January 2025.
