And Minnesota's hemp-derived THC market - 5 mg-per-serving edibles and beverages sold in liquor stores, breweries, taprooms, co-ops, and gas stations - has operated since 2022 under a separate, lower-potency regulatory track and remains widely available even where marijuana dispensaries have not yet opened.

Retail cannabis carries a 15% state cannabis gross receipts tax (raised from 10% effective July 1, 2025), the 6.875% state sales tax, and local sales tax, landing in the low-to-mid 20% range at checkout. Adults may possess 2 ounces in public, 2 pounds at home, grow 8 plants (4 flowering), and buy at 21+. Frostbite Dispensary in Roseville made history in February 2026 selling the first non-tribal, Minnesota-grown flower - proof the cultivation supply chain caught up with retail demand after the 2025 launch. Expect continued store openings through the rest of 2026 as OCM works through its backlog.

Search interest in Minnesota centers on where a licensed store actually exists near a given city, tribal-versus-state pricing and tax differences, and confusion between hemp-derived 5 mg beverages and full-potency dispensary products. Store counts have grown fast since the September 2025 launch, so freshness matters more here than in mature markets - verify a location is still open before directing traffic to it.
