Licensed cannabis consumption areas are also permitted, giving tourists and Texas day-trippers a legal place to use product on-site rather than in a vehicle or hotel room, which remains illegal.

New Mexico's market is almost entirely self-contained — the Cannabis Control Division only licenses in-state cultivation and processing, so nearly every brand on a New Mexico shelf is grown or made within the state rather than imported from a bigger market like California or Colorado. That means brand rotation looks different city to city: Santa Fe boutiques favor small-batch craft cultivators and rosin producers, Albuquerque's big-box Westside stores lean on higher-volume growers who can supply consistent stock at lower prices, and border towns like Las Cruces and Hobbs stock whatever moves fastest with high first-time-customer turnover.
