The city's beer-brewing history, revived through a wave of craft breweries in Over-the-Rhine over the past decade, has translated into a customer base that treats cannabis shopping with the same attention to sourcing and craft that it applies to beer. Bengals and Reds game days remain the city's most reliable sales spikes, and the tri-state metro's roughly 2.3 million residents give Cincinnati dispensaries a larger draw radius than the city's Ohio-only population suggests.

Retail clusters on the west side along West Eighth Street, Glenway Avenue, and Colerain Avenue; up the Central Parkway, Spring Grove Avenue, and Vine Street corridors running north from the urban core toward Hartwell; and in the northern I-75 suburbs around Woodlawn and Forest Park. The downtown core and Over-the-Rhine hold only provisional licenses, so the center of the city is still a gap on the map. A store on any of those stretches competes for the same regional shoppers crossing in from Kentucky and Indiana who can't buy at home.

Ohio became the 24th state to legalize adult-use cannabis when voters approved Issue 2 in November 2023, and the first recreational sales rang up on August 6, 2024, through dispensaries that had been serving medical patients since those sales began in January 2019. The biggest 2026 change came from Senate Bill 56, signed in December 2025 and effective March 20, 2026. SB 56 also shut down Ohio's parallel hemp market.
