Prospector Overview

Prospector sits along Sidewinder Drive and Prospector Avenue east of Bonanza Park, a mix of condominiums, small hotels, offices and some of the more attainable housing in a town where attainable is relative. It sits on the Rail Trail and close to the free bus routes that connect the town without a car. The licensed counter is barely three minutes away on Kearns Boulevard, making Prospector one of the two best-positioned neighborhoods in the county. The Rail Trail is public land closed to consumption.

Delivery in Prospector

Condominium complexes in this neighborhood need building and unit numbers saved with your address. Given the counter sits three minutes away, most cardholders around Sidewinder simply drive over instead.

Local Pricing

A three-minute run to the counter makes courier fees basically pointless. Shelf pricing applies here, with cartridges in the $38 to $72 range by size.

Prospector FAQ

How close is the pharmacy to Prospector?

About three minutes along Kearns Boulevard.

Can I ride the free bus there?

Local routes run along the corridor, though the last stretch is a short walk.

Can I use cannabis on the Rail Trail?

No. It is public land where Utah prohibits consumption entirely.

Market Overview

Cannabis in Prospector, Park City

Park City has about 8,400 full-time residents and hosts a multiple of that on any given winter weekend, which makes it the one Utah market where the visitor question dominates everything. People arrive from Colorado, Nevada, California and Washington assuming the rules travel with them. They do not. Utah runs a medical-only program and has no adult-use tier of any kind.

Summit County registered 1,525 active medical cannabis cards, served by a single counter. Curaleaf operates at 1351 Kearns Boulevard, Suite 110-B, on the SR-248 corridor between Old Town and Quinn's Junction - five minutes from Main Street and about ten from either resort base. It is the only licensed pharmacy in the county and the closest one to the Wasatch Back generally.

For visitors there is a legitimate path, and it is worth knowing before the trip rather than after. Utah issues non-resident cards through its electronic verification system: they last 21 days, you can hold two per calendar year, and you must already carry a card issued at home for one of the conditions Utah recognizes. Applications are typically reviewed within two business days, and not on weekends or state holidays.

Commercially the town breaks into Old Town along Main Street, the Bonanza Park and Prospector district along Kearns Boulevard where the pharmacy sits, and Kimball Junction out at the I-80 interchange. Permitted hemp shops appear in the first and third, capped at five milligrams of THC per serving.

Utah Statewide Context

Utah voters passed Proposition 2 in November 2018, and the Legislature replaced it with the Utah Medical Cannabis Act in a December 2018 special session before it ever took effect. Sales started March 2, 2020. Six and a half years later the program has grown into something far larger than its critics predicted: 117,158 people held active medical cannabis cards in August 2026, and Salt Lake County alone accounts for roughly 41 percent of them.

Retail here is capped by statute at 15 medical cannabis pharmacy licenses, and all 15 are open. They are spread across ten counties, which means most of the Wasatch Front is within a 30-minute drive of a counter while huge stretches of the state are not. Every pharmacy keeps a Pharmacy Medical Provider on site during business hours, and you meet a pharmacist before your first purchase. There is no walk-in browsing without a card, no adult-use tier, and no home grow at any quantity.

Home delivery is the quiet success story. Pharmacies can deliver themselves or hand off to a separately licensed courier company under rule R66-6, and one operator alone lists all 23 counties it serves. For a patient in Moab, Vernal or Blanding, the courier is the program. That is why the state publishes a delivery table alongside its pharmacy list rather than treating delivery as an afterthought.

The 2026 legislative session brought the biggest structural change since launch. HB 389 and SB 121, effective May 6, 2026, move the program from the Department of Health and Human Services to the Department of Agriculture and Food by January 1, 2027, and create a voucher program giving eligible Medicaid and Medicare cardholders $150 a month toward pharmacy purchases.

Shopping Guide

What to Buy in Prospector

Product availability in Prospector, Park City follows Utah regulations. Here's what's available and what to expect:

🌿 Flower

Sold in sealed, labeled containers to cardholders only, and it is legal to vaporize but illegal to smoke - combustion stays a violation even with a card. Flower moved $5.5 million in August 2026 alone, the second-biggest category in the state.

💨 Vape Cartridges

Cartridges and disposable pens are Utah's number one category by revenue, $8.4 million in August 2026, with pharmacies receiving 176,340 units from processors that same month. Every device is lab-tested through the Utah State Lab or an approved third party.

🚬 Pre-Rolls

Pre-rolls exist on Utah shelves but occupy an odd space in a state where lighting one is illegal - most cardholders who buy them are using dry-herb vaporizers instead. Expect a much thinner selection than in any neighboring adult-use state.

🍫 Edibles

Gummies, lozenges, capsules, oils, sprays and liquid suspensions are all approved medicinal dosage forms, and the category cleared $2.7 million in August 2026. Utah does not allow candy that mimics products marketed to children.

💎 Concentrates

Legal, tested and genuinely scarce: processors sent pharmacies just 804 concentrate units in August 2026 against 176,340 vape cartridges. Hash rosin, live resin, budder and wax exist here, but menus turn over slowly and stock varies week to week.

💧 Tinctures & Oils

Tinctures and sublingual oils are a staple for cardholders who want measured dosing without inhalation, and pharmacists lean on them heavily during first consultations because the milligram math is straightforward.

🧴 Topicals

Balms, gels, lotions, salves and transdermal patches are approved forms, though the whole non-edible infused category totaled only $119,200 statewide in August 2026 - a rounding error next to vapes.
