CU Boulder's roughly 38,000 students give the city a built-in customer base, concentrated most heavily around University Hill just south of campus.

Pearl Street Mall's pedestrian blocks draw the city's tourist and shopping foot traffic, and a handful of dispensaries sit within a short walk of the mall's east end, catering to visitors browsing the same boutiques and restaurants. Boulder's overall dispensary count is smaller than Denver's, which keeps competition - and price cuts - less aggressive here than on Denver's South Broadway strip.

Retail clusters along a few corridors: Pearl Street's eastern stretch near 28th Street, the University Hill strip along 13th Street serving campus foot traffic, and a handful of shops along the North Broadway commercial corridor.
