South Rehoboth Cannabis Guide: Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
Where people in South Rehoboth actually buy, what it costs, and what is legal in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware as of September 2026.
South Rehoboth Overview
South of Rehoboth Avenue, the numbered streets down to Prospect and the Dewey line hold a dense mix of cottages, rentals and year-round homes, plus Poodle Beach at the southern end of the boardwalk, a longstanding gathering point for the town's LGBTQ community. It is walkable, packed in summer and quiet by November. The city ordinance covers this side identically, so nothing licensed operates here and the Route 1 counter remains the destination, about eight minutes out.
Delivery in South Rehoboth
The rental density on these streets makes them a target for unlicensed delivery offers every season, and none of them are legal, since Delaware allows home drops to patients only.
Local Pricing
Weekly renters buy small, typically a single eighth at $45 to $58 or an edible pack, rather than the ounces year-round households pick up.
South Rehoboth FAQ
Can I consume at Poodle Beach?
No. It is public beach under both the city and state bans.
Is Dewey closer from here?
Dewey is closer geographically but also prohibits marijuana businesses.
How far is the licensed store?
About eight minutes west to Route 1.

Cannabis in South Rehoboth, Rehoboth Beach
Rehoboth Beach covers about 1.6 square miles and hosts a summer population many times its winter one, which is the whole context for what its commissioners decided. In August 2023 they voted to prohibit the sale, cultivation, testing and manufacturing of marijuana anywhere inside city limits, and separately banned smoking cannabis on public property. The stated reasoning was straightforward - preserving the family-resort reputation that the town has built for a century.
The commissioners were also realistic about where the demand would go. The unincorporated stretch of Route 1 that funnels traffic into the beach towns was always going to absorb it, and it did. Ayr Wellness operates at the Bayside outlet development on Route 1 with a Rehoboth Beach mailing address but outside the city boundary, serving adult-use buyers 21 and older with photo ID and registered medical patients. The company also runs Concord Pike near Wilmington and a Smyrna store.
For operators, the map here is unusually simple: nothing inside the city, nothing in Dewey Beach or Henlopen Acres either, and everything on the Route 1 corridor between Five Points and the Dewey line. The outlet strip, the Midway and Shoppes at Rehoboth areas and the Route 24 junction all sit in unincorporated Sussex County, and Senate Bill 75's July 2026 cap on buffers at 500 feet widened what is workable along that stretch.
Delaware Statewide Context
Delaware legalized adult possession in April 2023 through House Bills 1 and 2, then made buyers wait more than two years for a store. Sales finally opened on August 1, 2025, and every shop that opened that day was an existing medical compassion center that had paid a six-figure conversion fee for the right to serve customers who do not hold a card. That is still essentially the market you are shopping in: the Office of the Marijuana Commissioner directory lists 14 dispensary locations run by six operators, and none of the 30 retail lottery winners picked in 2024 had opened a door as of August 2026.
The rules are unusually tight for an adult-use state. An adult 21 or older may hold an ounce of leaf marijuana; the extract ceiling is 12 grams, and infused goods are capped at 750 milligrams of delta-9 in total. Nobody may grow a plant at home, not even a registered patient. Consuming in public or inside a vehicle is illegal. Adult-use orders must be handed over on the licensed premises, so couriers only run for registered medical patients, who also skip the 15% retail marijuana tax and may buy three ounces every 14 days.
Where you live decides how far you drive. Delaware let municipalities opt out entirely, and roughly a third did, including Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach, Dewey Beach, Middletown and Lewes. Milford went further and banned adult-use sales in January 2025, leaving one dispensary stuck selling medical only and suing the city. Senate Bill 75, passed over Governor Matt Meyer's veto on July 1, 2026, stripped churches out of the buffer list and cut most required setbacks to 500 feet, which should finally free up storefront real estate.
The money tells the rest. Year one produced $53.4 million in sales and just over $8 million in state tax, against a first commissioner's 2023 forecast of $281 million. Enforcement against unlicensed hemp shops has picked up, with state alcohol and tobacco agents mailing roughly 70 cease-and-desist letters to dozens of businesses by spring 2026.
What to Buy in South Rehoboth
Product availability in South Rehoboth, Rehoboth Beach follows Delaware regulations. Here's what's available and what to expect:
🌿 Flower
Every gram of licensed flower on a Delaware shelf was grown inside the state, because product cannot legally cross the line in either direction. Eighths, quarters and prepackaged ounces dominate the menus, and the state cap is one ounce of leaf per adult transaction.
💨 Vape Cartridges
Cartridges and all-in-one disposables are the fastest-moving category at most Delaware counters. They count against the 12-gram concentrate ceiling rather than the one-ounce flower limit, and every unit carries a batch number tied to the state seed-to-sale tracking system.
🚬 Pre-Rolls
Singles, infused rolls and multipacks are standard at all 14 licensed locations. They are counted as flower weight, so a five-pack of half-gram joints eats into your one-ounce allowance.
🍫 Edibles
Gummies, chocolates, caramels and baked goods sell under strict packaging rules: child-resistant containers, no bright cartoon branding, and no imitation of an existing candy brand. Total delta-9 THC across the products you carry has to stay at or under 750 milligrams.
💎 Concentrates
Live resin, rosin, badder, sugar and cartridges all fall under the same 12-gram concentrated cannabis cap. Selection is thinner than in Maryland or New Jersey because only a handful of Delaware cultivators and manufacturers were operating through 2026.
💧 Tinctures & Oils
Sublingual oils and drops are on OMC's list of approved adult-use formats and give you dose control without inhaling anything. Patients tend to buy them more often than adult-use customers do.
🧴 Topicals
Balms, salves and lotions are sold for localized relief and are not intoxicating in normal use. They are the one category where you rarely think about the state possession math.
Top Cannabis Brands in South Rehoboth
These Delaware-licensed brands are available at dispensaries serving South Rehoboth, Rehoboth Beach:
Six licensed operators run Delaware's 14 dispensary locations, and the OMC directory is the only list worth trusting. Ayr Wellness has stores on Concord Pike near Wilmington, on South DuPont Boulevard in Smyrna, and at the Bayside outlets outside Rehoboth Beach. Thrive Dispensary runs Germay Drive in Wilmington and Old Vine Boulevard near Lewes. Field Supply Cannabis and Provisions is a veteran-owned single store on Kirkwood Highway. The Farm is family owned with counters in New Castle, Felton and Frankford, and it operates the state's only drive-thru. Best Buds, run by CT Delaware, is minority and veteran owned with a UFCW union shop in Dover and another in Georgetown. Fresh Cannabis covers Newark and Seaford, and its Milford store is still limited to medical.
2026 Cannabis Trends in Delaware
Current market trends affecting shoppers in South Rehoboth, Rehoboth Beach:
Two things dominate the 2026 story. First, supply: Commissioner Joshua Sanderlin has said repeatedly that opening more stores before more cultivators come online would push prices up, and only four cultivation licensees were producing as of August 2026. Second, real estate: Senate Bill 75 survived a veto and took effect July 1, 2026, trimming most buffers to 500 feet and striking churches from the protected list, which finally makes Sussex County parcels workable. Watch two deadlines - the first non-conversion retail store was expected to open in Georgetown before the end of summer 2026, and the federal total-THC hemp standard, pushed back by the stopgap signed September 3, now lands December 11, 2026.
