The two decisions worth making before you walk in are whether you are shopping adult-use or medical, and how small you are willing to start.
Missouri checks ID at the door for everyone. If you are a registered patient, present the card at the same time, because it changes both your limit and your tax.
Cash is the safe assumption, with debit accepted at most Missouri dispensaries.

Missouri charges a state cannabis tax on adult-use sales, and local governments may add their own on top, so the rate varies by city and county. Registered patients pay a lower rate, which is the main reason people keep a medical card in a state with open adult-use retail. Competition has been genuinely good for prices here, and promotions are frequent.

How much can I buy?
Adult-use customers can buy up to 3 ounces per 30 days. Registered patients can buy up to 6 ounces per 30 days, tracked in the state system.
Is a medical card still worth it?
For frequent buyers, usually yes. Patients pay a lower tax rate, buy at double the limit, and have easier access to cultivation. For an occasional purchase, adult-use is simpler.
Can I get delivery?
Yes. Missouri permits delivery for both adult-use and medical customers. The driver checks the same ID at your door that a store would check at the counter.
Can I grow my own?
Yes, with a state cultivation card. Missouri is one of the few newer markets that permits home growing for adult-use consumers as well as patients.
Where can I legally consume?
On private property where the owner permits it. Public consumption is a civil offense with a fine of up to 100 dollars, and there are no licensed lounges.
What about crossing into Kansas or Illinois?
Kansas is a prohibition state and a Missouri purchase becomes a criminal matter there. Illinois is legal but your Missouri product is not authorized under Illinois rules, and crossing a state line is a federal issue either way.
Do out-of-state visitors need anything special?
No. Any adult 21 or older with a valid government photo ID can buy at adult-use limits, regardless of where they live.
Missouri is a comfortable market for a first visit: competitive prices, frequent promotions and staff who learned the job on the medical side. Buy one low-potency item, ask about a first-time discount, take the smallest dose at home, and if you end up going monthly, price out what a patient card would save you.
