Rhode Island is the smallest legal market in the country by geography and one of the smallest by store count. That means short drives and, at peak times, queues. The state is in the middle of a licensing expansion that could add up to 24 retailers across six zones, so the map you check today may look different by spring.
ID is checked at the door. Registered patients present their card at the same time, since the limits and taxes are different.
Cash is the safe assumption, with debit accepted at most stores.

How much can I buy?
One ounce per transaction as an adult-use customer. Registered patients buy up to 2.5 ounces every 15 days.
Can I get delivery?
Only as a registered medical patient, between 8:00am and 8:00pm. Adult-use delivery is not authorized in Rhode Island.
Can visitors buy?
Yes. Any adult 21 or older with valid government photo ID can buy at adult-use limits, regardless of residency.
Is there a lounge?
No. The Cannabis Act contemplates bring-your-own consumption establishments, but the commission has licensed none, so there is nowhere to go.
Can I take it into Massachusetts or Connecticut?
No. Both are legal states, but crossing a state line with cannabis is a federal issue and your Rhode Island purchase is not authorized under their rules.
Where can I legally consume?
On private property where the owner permits it. Public consumption is prohibited and no licensed venue exists.
Rhode Island is small enough that your nearest store is probably fifteen minutes away and busy enough that you should go on a weekday. Buy one low-potency item, budget about a fifth in tax, and use it at home, because this state authorized consumption venues on paper and has licensed exactly none.
